How I got there:

We drove South from Ulm with a 4:00 p.m. tour of Sleeping Beauty's Castle

Where I stayed:

  • Hotel Rheinischer Hof - Garmisch-Partenkirschen - Quaint Bavarian Inn at the base of the Alps in the lovely town of Gar-Par

What I did:

  • Die Wies Kirche - Stunning outside and inside, spend time wandering the grounds and take in the sound of the Alpine cowbells

  • Oberammergau -

    • Alpine Slide - Gorgeous location but the slide took forever, skip the slide and visit the Monastery down the road instead

  • Neuschwanstein - This tour requires pre-planning and they are very serious about promptness but the tour and the hike up to the bridge to take the classic castle pic are all very well worth the effort!

  • Drive through Austria, stop at Alpine Lake - Each lake is more stunning than the next. On our way from Schwangau to Gar-Par we passed through Austria and

Where I ate:

  • Gastatatte Milchhausle - Traditional German Food at the base of Neuschwanstein

  • Shaka Burgerhouse - We ate delicious hamburgers while watching the Euro finals!
